With a proud legacy of delivering exceptional results, we are seeking dedicated Construction Inspectors to join our dynamic team and support transportation projects across Northern Virginia. As a Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for overseeing field operations for transportation infrastructure projects. In this role, you’ll ensure quality control, adherence to safety regulations, and compliance with project specifications, all while contributing to the successful completion of major projects. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee, inspect, and monitor contractual fieldwork, including earthwork, drainage, structures, pavement, and incidental construction.
• Schedules work and inspection phases with contractor’s superintendent and agency personnel.
• Advises contractor of deficiencies and recommends adjustments to operational plans.
• Takes field measurements of pay items.
• Checks placement of and performs tests on construction materials; checks lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using standard survey and field engineering equipment.
• Oversees and enforces the installation of E&S controls and safety devices.
• Ensures contractor compliance with Maintenance of Traffic regulations and adherence to the Traffic Management Plan.
• Recommends modifications to construction plans to accommodate field conditions and/or provide project cost savings.
• Maintains project records, including daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, and pay quantity records; evaluates and monitors progress schedules, prepares work orders, and monthly estimates.
• Monitors Equal Employment Opportunity/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) documentation and compliance with Federal labor requirements/regulations for Federal-aid construction projects, ensuring contractor compliance with program requirements.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• A Certified Engineering Technician degree is required. 
• At least 3 years of VDOT inspection experience, with comprehensive knowledge of roadway, structure, and bridge construction methods, materials, standards, construction symbols, and terminology, as well as state and federal environmental, safety, and Equal Employment Opportunity regulations. 
• Proficient in operating computer systems, software, and field inspection equipment. 
• Skilled in reading and interpreting roadway, structure, and bridge plans and specifications. 
• Capable of applying mathematical formulas and engineering principles to make minor adjustments to construction plans. 
• Able to perform required materials testing.

• VDOT of MARTCP Guardrail, Surface Treatment
• VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Safety Training
• OSHA 10-Hour Construction
