This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s Corporate Office locations. 

Discovery Land Company is seeking a Director, HRIS to join the Human Resources Department. 

Job Summary:

The Director, HRIS (Workday) is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the company’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS), with a primary focus on Workday. This role partners with the broader HR Team, Payroll, IT, Finance, and business leaders to ensure the HRIS platform effectively supports workforce planning, talent management, compensation, payroll, and compliance initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Lead the HRIS function and serve as the Workday subject matter expert (SME) across all modules (HCM, Talent, Recruiting, Compensation, Time Tracking, Absence, etc.).
    • Develop the HR technology roadmap in alignment with the organization’s strategic goals and evolving needs.
    • Serve as a liaison between HR, Payroll, and IT, ensuring technology solutions meet evolving business needs.
    • Identify gaps in current HR technology processes and provide strategic solutions that drive efficiency, scalability, and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • System Management & Optimization
    • Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and ongoing enhancements of Workday modules.
    • Monitor system performance and data integrity and implement controls and governance protocols.
    • Evaluate and implement new Workday functionality/releases to drive operational efficiency.
  • Project & Change Management
    • Lead HRIS-related projects, including new module implementations, upgrades, and system integrations.
    • Define project scope, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
    • Champion change management and training programs to support user adoption.
    • Develop, lead, and continuously update comprehensive training programs and guides for HR Business Partners to ensure consistency and scalability.
    • Facilitate training sessions with HR leaders and business partners to reinforce knowledge, build proficiency, and ensure alignment with ongoing system enhancements and process changes.
  • Team Leadership
    • Manage and develop a high-performing HRIS team, providing coaching and guidance.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and customer service.
  • Reporting & Analytics
    • Drive the development and delivery of advanced reporting, dashboards, and analytics to support workforce insights and decision-making.
    • Partner with HR and business leaders to ensure data accessibility and accuracy.
    • Create and continuously enhance reporting capabilities to anticipate and respond to evolving business needs, proactively identifying gaps and opportunities for improved insights.
  • Compliance & Security
    • Ensure data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance across all HR systems and processes.
    • Partner with internal audit and compliance teams to uphold standards.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive HRIS experience, with a minimum of 4 years in a leadership role.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Workday across multiple modules.
  • Proven experience leading HRIS strategy and governance in a complex organizational environment.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and practices.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and system integrations.
  • Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and desire to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to align HRIS with broader business goals.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to data integrity and system performance.
  • Adaptable leader comfortable working in fast-paced, changing environments.
  • Workday Pro certification(s) preferred.
  • Experience with global HRIS implementation preferred.
  • MBA or Master's
