About the Role:  

The Director of Data Governance is responsible for developing and leading the data governance strategy and framework across the organization. This role involves ensuring the integrity, quality, and security of data while fostering a data-driven culture. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data management, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with various departments to drive data governance initiatives that support business objectives.

What You’ll Do: 

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with the organization's goals.
  • Establish and oversee the data governance framework, policies, and procedures.
  • Drive the adoption of data governance best practices across the organization.

Data Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across all systems.
  • Develop and enforce data quality standards and metrics.
  • Monitor compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with data owners, IT, legal, compliance, and business units to ensure data governance practices are integrated into all data-related activities.
  • Facilitate data governance councils or committees to discuss data issues, improvements, and compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical and business stakeholders to promote a data-driven culture.

Data Stewardship and Management

  • Lead a team of data stewards and data governance professionals.
  • Oversee the maintenance of data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage documentation.
  • Provide guidance and support to data stewards in managing data quality and integrity.

Risk Management and Data Security

  • Identify and mitigate data risks through robust data governance practices.
  • Ensure the implementation of data security measures to protect sensitive information.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address data governance and security issues.

Training and Communication

  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on data governance policies and best practices.
  • Communicate data governance initiatives and progress to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Promote awareness of data governance through regular updates, workshops, and seminars.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
