The Senior Manager, Production Planning & Control (PP&C) leads end-to-end production planning and execution for the Palo Alto manufacturing site. This role is accountable for translating global demand and supply plans into executable production schedules, ensuring material readiness, and driving disciplined factory execution.
Acting as the on-site execution control tower, this role ensures alignment between Global Planning, Fulfillment, Procurement, and Manufacturing, enabling on-time delivery, optimized inventory, and stable production operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Production Planning & Execution

  • Own daily, weekly, and short-term production planning for the Palo Alto site
  • Ensure alignment with MPS, demand priorities, and material availability
  • Drive execution against clear-to-build, clear-to-pick, and clear-to-ship horizons
  • Lead daily production cadence reviews and schedule adherence governance

2. Factory Floor Control & Order Execution

  • Oversee production order lifecycle (release, sequencing, execution, closure)
  • Ensure accurate system execution in SAP (order status, confirmations, dates)
  • Manage rework flows, production disruptions, and WIP movement
  • Drive resolution of production issues impacting throughput and delivery

3. Material Readiness & Shortage Management

  • Ensure production plans are fully supported by material availability
  • Lead escalation and resolution of material shortages impacting production
  • Partner closely with Procurement and Global Planning to mitigate supply risk
  • Execute prioritization and allocation decisions when constraints arise

4. Inventory & WIP Control

  • Manage WIP, sub-assemblies, and finished goods inventory for the site
  • Maintain optimal balance between throughput, service level, and inventory
  • Reduce excess & obsolete (E&O) through disciplined execution and planning alignment
  • Improve inventory transparency and traceability across production stages

5. Cross-Functional Execution Alignment

  • Serve as the primary interface between:
    • Manufacturing / Operations (capacity, execution)
    • Global Planning (MPS, inventory strategy)
    • Fulfillment (delivery commitments, backlog prioritization)
    • Engineering (ECN readiness and cut-in)
  • Ensure rapid identification and escalation of risks impacting customer delivery
  • Lead site-level control tower reviews and cross-functional alignment forums

6. Performance Management & KPI Ownership

Own and drive performance against site-level operational KPIs:

  • Schedule adherence / attainment
  • Production throughput and cycle time
  • Clear-to-build / clear-to-ship performance
  • Backlog and past-due reduction
  • WIP and inventory levels
  • On-time delivery to customer request date

7. Process Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Standardize and strengthen PP&C processes across the Palo Alto site
  • Drive adoption of best practices aligned with global planning framework
  • Lead digitalization and reporting improvements (visibility, automation, dashboards)
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives in:
    • Schedule stability
    • Lead time reduction
    • Execution discipline

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Palo Alto PP&C team (planners, schedulers, order controllers)
  • Establish clear accountability and performance expectations
  • Foster strong floor-level engagement and cross-functional collaboration
  • Build a culture of execution discipline, transparency, and continuous improvement

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in production planning, manufacturing, or supply chain
  • Direct experience in factory-based planning and execution environments
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Production scheduling, MPS/MRP
    • SAP / ERP systems (order management, execution tracking)
    • Inventory and WIP control
