Location:  Augusta  

Telework:  Partial/ Hybrid, with management approval, upon completion of probationary period. All telework must be performed in the State of Maine.

OVERVIEW:  

The Loss Control Specialist is primarily responsible for performing commercial property inspections, providing building valuations, and completing insurance underwriting reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct statewide property inspections.  
  • Identify building and roof construction type, square footage, and confirm operations.
  • Record onsite observations, secure photos, evaluate the physical condition, structural integrity, and safety of insured property. 
  • Calculate CoreLogic building replacement values.
  • Complete insurance underwriting reports.  
  •  Assist agencies with building values and maintenance to comply with insurance coverage.
  • Conduct Defensive Driving training.  

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 

  • Proficiency in evaluating commercial property for insurance coverage.
  • Proficiency in fire safety, fire protection systems, NFPA standards.
  • Knowledge of Property Casualty Insurance.
  • Ability to utilize inspection software and write comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to track and record property inspections within a database.             
  • Ability to assist with agency needs such as Fire Prevention Plans and other contingency plans.
  • Assist the claims department to secure site photos for accident Investigations.
  • Ability to identify building construction and ISO classes
  • Solid communication and time management skills
  • Exceptional writing ability, organizational skills and computer skills
  • Ability to travel.

MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A six-year combination of education and experience in commercial property inspections. A valid driver’s license, with an acceptable driving record
