WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is not available for a hybrid telework workweek

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Provides support and assistance to preschool teachers and school administrators in the use of curricular materials related to preschool programs; ensures compliance of federal, state, and local laws and procedures.  Promotes standards-based instruction by modeling, focused observations, and professional learning community activities; supports teachers in using assessment data and analysis of student work to plan and deliver differentiated instruction.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Extensive knowledge of best practices in early childhood development and the ability to design inclusive, supportive environments for children of all abilities, including those with special needs or at risk for delays.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Every Child Accountability and Tracking System (ECATS);  
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills;  
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills; 
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction; 
  • Ability to organize information pulled from multiple sources;  
  • Ability to design and deliver professional development; 
  • Ability to evaluate trainings and professional development to ensure topics and information are being implemented;  
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, external agencies, and the community.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in early childhood education, special education, or related field;
  • Five years of experience teaching preschool aged children;
  • Experience in designing and delivering professional development to adult learners;
  • Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

 

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educators License in Birth to Kindergarten;
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, special education, or related field;
  • Experience teaching in a preschool classroom at an elementary school;
  • Experience teaching in culturally and economically diverse environments.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
