Production Engineer II - Marshall, MN
Job SummaryThis position is responsible for providing engineering support and leadership for a production department at the Marshall Corn Processing facility. Primary focus will be applying engineering skills to lead and contribute to projects that improve the team and process through safety, environmental compliance, quality and costs.
Essential Job Functions
- Complete on-the-job training to gain exposure to production, management, and engineering to become familiar with the operation of the plant.
- Learn, analyze and evaluate existing manufacturing processes, identify areas for improvement, recommend and implement solutions by applying data driven decision-making.
- Assist in day-to-day operations by supervising production, maintenance and contractor work as needed.
- Provide technical support to problem solving activities to resolve process and maintenance related issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of new processes, technologies and equipment.
- Actively engages operations, maintenance and contractor colleagues to maintain and improve facilities, equipment and safety programs.
- Participates with and leads technical training as needed to develop operational colleagues.
- Manages capital projects up to 5M USD and partners as an active stakeholder of project teams executing capital projects >5M USD.
- Display the ability to lead, develop and support safety efforts to promote a safety culture of continuous improvement. Promote continuous process safety improvement with knowledge of PSM programs.
- Collaborate with the external plant teams (CAPEX, Technology, Maintenance, Safety, Environmental, Quality/Food Safety, Performance Excellence and Performance Management) for development and execution of continuous improvement projects.
- Lead external contractor teams during project execution phases in a manner that prioritizes both occupational and process safety.
- Perform duties in a safe manner utilizing all safety equipment and successfully completing all safety certification requirements.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field of study such as business, management, manufacturing, or engineering (Chemical, Agricultural, Mechanical preferred).
- ADM safety orientation and ongoing OSHA required plant safety training.
- Experience working in manufacturing and/or construction industry.
- Basic knowledge of process equipment.
- Strong commitment to working safely, the safety of others, and safe design.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams.
- Working knowledge of engineering drawings and documentation (e.g. P&ID’s).
- Ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently.
- High level of motivation and results-oriented way of working.
- Willingness to spend time in plant areas – tolerate extreme temperatures, walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders and move through close spaces.
- MS Office Suite
- Experience managing people and production processes.
- General knowledge of codes, relevant standards and materials of construction.
- Experience with Capital Project Management.
- Engineering Software/tools (CAD, Statistical Analysis, Process Modeling).

- The scope of the position may have exposure to and use of chemicals, solvents and cleaners that may be hazardous and/or cause injury if specific instructions regarding their mixture, use and/or disposal/storage are not properly followed.
- Inside areas:
- Spring / Summer: Temperatures in some areas of the facility will be up to or exceed 100 degrees.
- Fall / Winter: Temperatures in the facility may be at or below freezing.
- Outside areas:
- Spring / Summer: Outside temperature may be up to or exceed 100 degrees with potential for high humidity. May be exposed to inclement weather conditions including, but not limited to, rain and wind.
- Fall / Winter: Outside temperatures may reach freezing or below. May be exposed to inclement weather including, freezing rain, sleet, snow and wind.
- Some manufacturing processes within the facility are highly reliant on machinery and other processing equipment and, as a result, noise levels may reach or exceed 85 decibels and require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift.
