Summary:  Team Member is responsible for removing the casing (plastic cover) from the product log with minimal loss of usable product by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  include the following.

• As instructed, use a knife to remove the outer casing from the product log and sanitize the knife after stripping each log.

• Position the log back on the conveyor or cart for the next operation to maintain proper product identity.
• Sanitize the knife, hands and work surfaces as instructed.
• Inform the lead or supervisor if product has excessive amounts of purge in the casing (approximately 1 cup or more).
• Remove the logs off the end of the Crust Freeze Tunnel and place them on carts.
• Inform lead or supervisor of non-conforming product.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Language Skills:  A Proficiency in reading and writing; ability to complete on-the-job paperwork and effectively communicate across all management levels

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

 

Physical Requirements: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

• Must be willing and able to frequently lift and/or move up to 58.5 lbs.
• The Team Member will lift, slide and move the logs.
• The Team Member will safely use the sharp case stripping knife.
• The Team Member will be regularly required to stand, use hands/fingers to handle, or feel.
• The Team Member will be frequently required to walk.
• The Team Member will use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• The Team Member will be regularly exposed to fog, wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical part, and extreme cold.
• The Team Member will work in a work environment where the noise level is usually loud.

Work Environment:  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The Team Member is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. 

PPE: Team Member may be required to wear smock, safety goggles, hairnet, beard net, apron, boots, coat (supplied by TM), sleeves, guards, gloves, face mask, shield, hearing protection, etc.
