PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Aircraft Mechanic I (Assembly/EOL) shall provide aircraft mechanical duties for the SRR Product Line and/or throughout ALC. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Repair and maintain various and minor mechanical and hydraulic systems.

  • Perform flight line maintenance of assigned and transient operational aircraft, including functional testing, troubleshooting, and repairing all airframe mechanical systems, or post assembly checkout, adjustment, and repair of overhauled and modified aircraft to prepare for and correct deficiencies found on functional flights.

  • Will be required to follow work orders, as assigned.

  • Check a variety of complex technical guides to ensure they include up-to-date changes.

  • Report errors and poorly presented or confusing information to the COR.

  • Demonstrate or explain proper techniques, method of operations, and safety practices.

  • Observe performance and work with the employee, leader, or supervisor to resolve problems.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

  • Cleans, lubricates, and maintains tools and equipment.

  • May transport, store, or use hazardous wastes and materials (HAZMAT) during operations.

  • Perform other Aircraft Maintenance duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Must possess basic computer skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate work methods and techniques.

  • Posses extensive knowledge of a wide variety of parts, components, and complex assemblies associated with aircraft systems.

  • Because of the complicated ways in which these major assemblies, systems, and surfaces are installed, fit and work together, must have more ability to rig, function test, or troubleshoot the systems, determines when they are operating properly or whether portions of the system must be repaired or replace and the type and extent of adjustment and alignment needed.

  • Have knowledge of the make-up, operation, installation, and adjustment of a variety of major interrelated and/or integrated aircraft systems, subsystems, and assemblies such as fuel and hydraulic systems, flight control systems, instrumentation systems, engine(s), landing gear assemblies, airframe, and control surfaces.

  • Have skill in the use of standard and specialized tools and the equipment of the trade including fixtures, templates, scales, test stands and external power sources.

  • Have skill in reading and understanding data and settings from cockpit instruments and gauges.

  • Have knowledge of activity supply procedures to be able to initiate requisitions for needed parts and supplies and has a thorough knowledge of the publication order system to obtain the most up-to-date technical manuals and to propose changes to publications when they find discrepancy.

  • Ability to read, understand and apply trade to administrative guides such as technical manuals, technical orders, blueprints, sketches, and other related documents.

  • Ability to reach, bend, walk, pull, sit, stand, crouch, stoop, kneel and stretch for prolonged periods of time.

  • May be required to work in cramped, awkward, and strained positions or required to climb ladders, work platforms, scaffolding and aircraft structures.

  • Capability to work in regulated areas with toxic materials present including hexavalent chromium and cadmium, this will include use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as protective clothing, etc.

  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to follow appreciate safety procedures common to the trade.

  • Knowledge of specific hazardous materials and hazardous waste procedures of related training.

  • Skilled in the use of standard and specialized tools and the equipment of the trade including fixtures, templates, scales, test stands and external power sources.

  • Technical capability/experience with aircraft, airframes, components, and substructures.

  • Should include maintenance of primary, secondary, and tertiary structures.

  • Technical capability to assist in PDM of USCG aviation assets.

  • Ability to conduct research using USCG data systems such as TMAPS, or similar type systems.

  • Familiarity with OEM’s manuals or similar manuals with the ability to research maintenance history, procedures and components limitations is desired.

  • Technical capability to deal with aircraft upgrades and aging aircraft sustainment issues.
