Description

     Shift:         Full Time Nights 7pm – 7:30 am   

Location:         Travel between Emory Healthcare’s Impatient and Outpatient Facilities

   Salary:         Based on three different travel levels starting @ $52

 

We're seeking an Internal Travel Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) who serves as a clinician at the clinical departments in both inpatient and outpatient areas. Employs the use of evidence-based practice, department and service area initiatives, and grows individually as a professional.

 

 

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 

 

  • Provides Patient and Family Centered Care Consistently meets departmental/hospital quality & safety goals while adhering to the Emory Behavioral Standards and the Emory Service Culture Guidelines.
  • Provides respiratory care to patients in acute, chronic, and emergency situations including routine ventilator and artificial airway treatments and administering aerosolized medications and other respiratory treatments.
  • Proficient in endotracheal intubation. Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Equipment and Supplies: Selects, assembles, and checks respiratory care equipment for proper function, operation, and cleanliness; performs minor repairs to correct malfunctions. Take items out of service and report failures as needed. Assesses unit work and report to supervisor/charge anticipates needs
  • Professional Development: Works with manager to formulate plan for professional development. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
  • Reporting/Data Management: Accurately and completely documents respiratory care by following the established charting procedure to show the patient's progress or any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Safety, Security and Health: Practices universal and/or specialized precautions in the daily cleaning and sterilization of work surfaces, equipment, and instruments.
  • Staff Resource: May conduct in-service educational programs related to the provision of respiratory care. Serves as a preceptor and resource to colleagues (such as lesser experienced RCPs) and strong advocate for patients/families.
  • Maintains courteous and professional behavior at all times. Assesses assigned patients; reviews medical history, admitting diagnosis, physician's orders, nursing history, and evaluation of diagnostic data.
  • Interviews patient and family to determine patient needs; communicates these to interdisciplinary health care team members as appropriate. Completes and maintains all competencies.
  • Refers and guides others in the use of policies and procedures in the clinical setting. Assures competence to function if working in new area.. Participate in patient round discussions and identify alternate methods of therapy or mechanical ventilation. Competent in clinical areas as appropriate other duties as assigned. Suggest modifications to care for patient care team. Acquires resources not readily available Serves as a resource for ventilator management. Regularly attends department meetings (75%). Regularly attends in services and educational offerings. Serves on unit-based committees. Following established charting procedures, documents all aspects of patient care to show progress or changes in patient's condition. Collaborates with members of the health care team to determine patient needs and needs of significant others in planning the treatment.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Currently licensed as an active Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Georgia.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Other Requirements (if applicable): BLS, ACLS required.
  • PALS required for pediatric care.
  • NRP required for special care nursery/NICU within 1 year of hire
  • ACCS Credential for Critical Care is required within 1 year of hire.
  • NPS Credential for NICU within 1 year of hire.
