Data ScienceThe US Retail Markets Data Science team brings together a diverse range of talent to predict future risk and what our customers will need to recover. Our data engineers write code that turns trillions of bits of information into structured data—data that our hundred-plus Data Scientists analyze with cutting-edge modeling techniques to unlock insights. From there, our tools and deployment teams ensure this data can be practically applied to business problems across US Retail Markets. The Auto Product Design and Modeling team has an opening for a Director II, Data Science position that will drive pricing sophistication for personal auto products and lead our Agency Channel Core team. Would you like to use your creative problem-solving skills to impact business results for Liberty Mutual’s Agency channel? In this highly visible role, you would have the opportunity to shape our Personal Auto pricing segmentation for years to come, including the convergence of our products across channels. The role will report directly to the Auto Design Agency Lead and manage a team of 4-6 analysts, potentially in multiple locations.
Responsibilities:
- Own the accuracy of our pricing segmentation for our Agency Personal Auto product, including incorporating innovative features and modeling techniques
- Facilitate convergence and automation efforts that aim to improve our efficiency and speed to market
- Build and develop a team of best-in-class modelers
- Support the rollout of new pricing models across US Auto products, including in complex markets
- Establish yourself as a self-driven leader, providing both strategic and tactical direction in the US Personal Lines Auto space
- Build strong relationships with leaders across the organization to maximize the impact of our product builds and to help implement new pricing programs into market every 12 to 18 months
The following qualifications are desirable but not required:
- FCAS or other insurance designations
- Expert skills in statistical software packages (e.g., Emblem, Python packages) highly desired.
- Strong knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting and ratemaking concepts
- High-level knowledge of data sources, tools, and the business (lines, systems, pricing plans), predictive modeling (GLMs, GBMs, Elastic Nets), and code (e.g. Python, R, SQL) preferred.
Qualifications
• Deep knowledge of predictive analytic techniques and statistical diagnostics of models.• Expert knowledge of predictive toolset, to include highly technical tools.• Proven ability to lead and drive projects and assignments to completion through others, to include prior experience effectively managing talent.• Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely, verbally, visually (presentations and exhibits), and in writing, consistent with the audiences and stakeholders with which s/he interacts.• Ability to establish and build relationships within and outside the aligned functional area or SB
