We are looking for an experienced Reliability Engineer who wants to join an ambitious team of hardware and software engineers that develop the state of the art in hardware design, computer vision, and machine learning.

Key job responsibilities
● Responsible for defining reliability design requirements.
● Responsible for qualification plans (including defining sample sizes) and reports to support aggressive development timelines.
● Planning and executing reliability test plans, data analysis, root cause and failure analysis and reporting to clearly communicate findings and risks.
● Conducting cross functional FMEA and risk assessments.
● Predict reliability failure rates and mechanisms.
● Support products throughout life cycle - early engagement in during proof of concept, through Engineering/Design Validation testing (at contract manufacturer or internal labs) and through PV/MP. Support field issues.
● Support onsite internal lab testing as needed. This can include helping with test setup, running tests, doing periodic checks or final teardown.
● Define ORT plans starting in DV/PV.
● You should have a good understanding of Reliability statistics, acceleration models and have a solid understanding of hardware materials and physics of failure to influence design for reliability early in the development timeline.

A day in the life
As a Hardware Reliability Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary teams and outside partners to drive key aspects of hardware definition, execution and test. You will need to understand the products and identify environmental and stress conditions to apply to the products. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. You will be responsible for the reliability of the entire product from components to printed circuit board assembly to system which will encompass optical, electrical and mechanical elements.

Basic Qualifications


- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar technical discipline.
- 5+ years of reliability engineering experience.
- Experience defining reliability requirements.
- Experience developing FMEAs.
- Experience with fault detection/fault isolation metrics.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills for technical and non-technical content.
- Experience working with Asia-based manufacturing partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to move quickly and work in an ambiguous environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Masters or PhD degree in mechanical engineering.
- Experience with Reliasoft or similar reliability modeling software.
- Experience with Solidworks.
- Desire to learn complex system operations in order to root cause difficult technical problems.
- Knowledge and/or working experience with statistical analysis tools, data visualization and program management.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
