ROLE:

This position plans and adjusts routes according to the daily needs of the department and community. The transportation driver will drive a company van or bus to transport passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to the time schedule, and initiate and accept payment for transportation directly from the passengers. Assigned Schedule: Wednesday/Thursday/Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (24 hours/week)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Driving Requirement: Must have a valid Kansas driver's license and be insurable with the Nation's insurance carrier.

Experience: Six months to two years of similar or related experience.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of traffic signs, vehicle use and controls, and local roadways.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customers and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle safety restraints, securing equipment, tools, luggage on to the passenger vehicle and operating wheelchair lift and locks.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Knowledge of traffic laws.

Skills:

• Operation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
• Operations Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
