Job Description
We are seeking a strategic and compliance-driven Manager of International Trade to lead and safeguard our Customs & Trade Compliance programs across the US and Canada. In a fast-evolving global market defined by shifting tariff barriers and complex regulations, you will play a pivotal role in mitigating risk, identifying strategic trade opportunities, and driving cost-reduction initiatives.
- Manage the Customs & Trade Compliance program in the US and Canada for the purpose of mitigating risk to the company
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations and adherence to strategy
- Ability to identify trade-related risks and opportunities in a fast changing and complex environment with increasing tariff barriers
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, i to ensure trade and customs aspects are well understood and considered.
- Monitor changes in trade and customs legislation and assess their impact on incl. cost reduction / risk mitigation options
- Assist in performing risk risk assessments of the trade compliance program
- Provide training and guidance on trade related topics
- Identify tariff mitigation strategies and define the guidelines to implement within based on CBP regulations
- Assist in Audit defense activities
- Ability to review classifications for accuracy
- Experience with Foreign Trade Zones, Duty Drawback and Antidumping/Countervailing Duties from a governance perspective
- With respect to the USCBP Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) portal: (i) create reports within PowerBI with information extracted from the ACE portal, to facilitate impact analysis and (ii) run ad hoc reports on request
- Support in Forced Labor review and evaluation
- Review audit reports, identify key findings and trends, support remedial actions, and track such actions to completion
- Assist with monitoring of applicable regulations and help assess the potential changes needed to meet new requirements.
- Prepare and deliver training materials on trade topics
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant area
- 7+ years of progressive experience in international trade compliance, with a strong focus on corporate governance, risk management, and regulatory oversight.
- Proven expertise in managing and auditing complex trade programs, including Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), Duty Drawback, and Antidumping/Countervailing Duties (AD/CVD).
- Strong technical proficiency in global trade systems, including advanced experience using the US Customs and Border Protection Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) portal.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and mitigate trade-related risks and tariff exposure within a fast-changing and volatile regulatory environment.
- Proven track record of successful stakeholder management, with the communication skills necessary to translate complex customs regulations into actionable business strategies for cross-functional teams.
- Sharp analytical background with verified experience reviewing, validating, and defending harmonized tariff classifications for accuracy.
- High proficiency in MS Office suite and data analytics tools, specifically utilizing Power BI to extract data, build compliance dashboards, and conduct impact analyses.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience managing trade compliance programs across both US and Canadian jurisdictions, including familiarity with CBSA regulations.
- Hands-on experience establishing governance frameworks for supply chain traceability and conducting Forced Labor risk reviews or evaluations.
- Experience leading or defending formal regulatory audits and managing structured remedial action plans from identification to completion.
