This position is for a Staff Engineering Lab Assistant who works under minimal supervision. Performs hands-on technical work on engineering products.  Confers with Engineers and lab technicians on details and specifications to build and modify a wide range of products. 

This is an onsite position in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

What you will do: 

  • Works under minimal supervision to provide technical build support to engineers and technicians on a variety of tasks. 
  • Performs moderately complex hands-on technical tasks that contribute to the completion of engineering projects and products. 
  • Works on circuit boards completing repairs, component insertion and replacement, and even inspection. 
  • Familiar with soldering techniques, both lead and lead-free. 
  • Builds cables and terminations for a wide variety of circuity types. 
  • Understands the engineering inspection and quality process and follows quality procedures. 
  • Reads prints, drawings, and schematics as needed to assist in the build process. 
  • Uses hand tools, scopes, soldering stations, and other devices with skill and precision.  
  • Demonstrates successful soft skills - communication, attitude, leadership, and professionalism. 

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Previous assembly and manufacturing experience is required.
