Broadridge is Growing! We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Analyst to support end-to-end payroll operations for a multi-state U.S. employee population using ADP payroll systems.
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, and resolving complex payroll issues. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of U.S. payroll laws, taxation, garnishments, benefits deductions, and year-end payroll activities, along with strong analytical and auditing skills. This position partners closely with HR, Finance, Benefits, and external vendors to improve payroll processes, support reporting needs, and ensure a high level of employee service and payroll integrity. Assist the Payroll Manager in coordinating and supporting the end-to-end processing of U.S. biweekly payrolls using ADP global view, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Work Mode: We are made up of high performing teams that meet in person to learn and collaborate as needed. This role is considered hybrid, which means you’ll be coming into the Newark office 2 days a week and given the flexibility to work remotely the rest of the time.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the review and validation of payroll transactions, including new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, third-party sick pay, salary changes, and other employee pay adjustments.
- Assist with off-cycle and manual payments in accordance with payroll procedures and state-specific requirements, taking initiative to help resolve urgent payroll matters effectively.
- Support the review of severance agreements and related payments to ensure processing aligns with approved terms, internal policies, and applicable legal requirements.
- Conduct peer reviews of payroll transactions completed by team members, helping identify discrepancies, improve accuracy, and maintain strong quality standards.
- Partner with the Payroll Manager to support compliance with Corporate SOX internal controls, including completion of pre- and post-audit payroll checklists and adherence to established procedures.
- Research and assist in resolving sophisticated and sensitive payroll issues, applying sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills to meet Payroll SLAs and minimize disruption.
- Assist with payroll implementation activities, process improvements, and system changes by identifying risks, recommending solutions, and supporting execution.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to payroll team members, helping answer questions, share knowledge, and promote consistency in payroll operations.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies, demonstrating initiative in strengthening payroll workflows and controls.
- Partner with the Payroll Manager and payroll tax contacts to support audits and inquiries from federal, state, and local tax authorities, ensuring timely and accurate follow-up.
- Assist as needed in liaising with government agencies regarding payroll tax matters and supporting the resolution of tax-related issues.
- Assist with the registration of new state and local tax jurisdictions and the closure of inactive jurisdictions, as required to maintain compliance.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of ADP payroll processing is vital.
- At least 5 years payroll processing experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Team player/Multi-Tasking
- Experience in handling Projects.
- Prior payroll implementation experience is a plus.
- Requires knowledge of payroll tax regulations to interpret Federal and state laws.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Maintain privacy of data and information.
- Resourceful and self-directed.
- Intermediate level using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Hourly range $45-50/hr
