Job Description

This role is hybrid remote with 60% monthly in-office presence in Mount Prospect, Illinois. (3 days in office per week)

What You’ll Do

As a Junior Industrial Designer in our regional UX team, you’ll contribute to the earliest stages of product development—helping turn user insights into tangible ideas. This role is hands-on and collaborative. You’ll grow your design skills while supporting research, concepting, and storytelling across a variety of projects.

  • Support early-stage design activities—from basic user research to visualizing new product ideas.
  • Contribute to research planning and fieldwork, such as interviews, observations, and team synthesis.
  • Help translate insights into design opportunities, and sketch ideas that bring those to life.
  • Collaborate on rapid prototypes, sketches, and presentations that communicate clearly across teams.
  • Facilitate design sprints and workshops to explore and refine concepts together with teammates.
  • Work closely with researchers, product managers, and marketing to explore ideas that matter.
  • Along the way, you'll gain exposure to broader innovation challenges—including trade ecosystems, digital touchpoints, and service opportunities beyond the core product.
  • Stay open to emerging tools (like AI in design or research)—we’re learning and experimenting together.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

  • A degree in Industrial Design 
  • Strong sketching and visualization skills—you’re comfortable sharing ideas early and often.
  • Experience (school or internship) with basic qualitative research methods like 1:1 interviews or need-finding.
  • Basic knowledge of 2D and 3D tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, Solidworks, KeyShot, CAD) is required
  • Physical prototyping experience preferred.
  • Curiosity and a desire to grow—you’re proactive, organized, and eager to learn in a team environment.
  • Eager collaborator, with communication skills that help you work in a team setting to deliver clear ideas 
  • Enthusiasm for exploring new ideas and turning fuzzy problems into clear possibilities.
