Summary
The legal department ensures Wyld meets and exceeds governmental and industry standards across multiple states and protects Wyld’s interests in each state and on the national stage. The Assistant General Counsel will be responsible for researching applicable law, investigating facts, corresponding with outside parties, and preparing documents as directed by the General Counsel.
In addition, you will track new and changing regulations as applied to existing and anticipated products and business strategies and clearly communicate information to appropriate departments
Duties and Responsibilities
- Research, analyze, and accurately summarize sources of regulation, including applicable constitutions, statutes, regulations, articles, bulletins, and treaties concerning cannabis regulation in each state and at the national level
- Organize documents for license applications and assist the Expansion Team when identifying new markets to ensure a smooth entry into any market
- Attend educational workshops, rulemaking committees, legislative hearings, trade association meetings, and other public hearings affecting the cannabis industry or relevant to our corporate structure and strategy to gather information on how any proposed or actual changes affect our employees and our business
- Manage legal projects including contract review, litigation, administrative tasks, internal audits and investigations, and reviewing SOPs
- Coordinate with all departments and executive team on projects on a case-by-case basis
- Day-to-day corporate and cannabis compliance responsibilities, working closely with General Counsel to ensure the ongoing health of the Company
- Prepare, review, and update reference factsheets for daily use and review by Executive Team and Expansion Team
- Able to conduct and respond to interviews, investigations, and depositions.
- Manage, coach, and develop junior staff.
- Provide feedback, performance management discussions, and disciplinary action as needed for team management.
- Additional duties & responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.
Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college. Juris Doctorate.
- Experience/Skills: 3-5 years experience in work of a comparable character with specific experience in employment litigation, business compliance programs management and auditing.
- Experience in staff management is a plust.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft office suite of products (Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, etc.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Active Bar License Preferred.
- Language Skills: Must be able to effectively and concisely communicate in English, both verbally and written, with impeccable spelling and grammar, organized sentence structure, and coherent thought.
- Problem Solving: Must be capable of responding to rapidly evolving regulations and laws and apply them consistently on a daily basis in a manner that benefits the Company.
