Sr. Network Compliance Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Local Governance Lead (LGOV) and chief of staff to the Discover Payment Network global compliance team and to serve as a chief of staff to the Chief Compliance Officer for Discover Payment Network and the broader leadership team. This is an exciting time to join this growing team and this critical role, in particular, will have a material impact on the development of team culture, alignment on key priorities, thoughtful incorporation of the function into Capital One’s risk management framework and building or expanding on the team’s brand.  You will also work closely with leadership to coordinate day-to-day operations and provide support across a range of efforts that contribute to the overall health and effectiveness of the team.  This critical position will serve as the “right hand” of the MVP and enable leaders to execute strategic priorities while ensuring operational rigor. 

Responsibilities:

  • Liaison with the Enterprise Compliance Governance team and other Local Governance Leads (LGOV) as to both the ongoing network compliance program and programmatic  considerations arising from the addition of the network line of business 

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of Compliance Risk Management Framework and applicable laws and regulations

  • Play an integral role in enhancing our intentional, team-oriented organizational culture and facilitate a management system to ensure organizational effectiveness

  • Partner closely with the leadership team to drive the forward leaning direction for the team and create a cross functional view of the destination; facilitate the creation of presentations that articulate the strategy to key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assist in capturing, maintaining, and analyzing compliance data, interpreting it to ensure consistency and adequate Compliance Risk Management

  • Manage several key reporting activities 

  • Ensure team management operates smoothly by, e.g., preparing agendas, coordinating materials, facilitating team meetings; providing change management support, identifying opportunities for process improvements, analyzing all-associate survey scores, and acting as an ambassador for the network compliance program 

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Be self-motivated and able to effectively and autonomously manage and execute simultaneous projects and tasks while demonstrating urgency, prioritization, and ownership to drive issues to completion

  • Possess strong project management and organizational skills

  • Demonstrate exceptionally strong communication and relationship building skills, customer focus, and ability to collaborate and influence across teams and multiple levels 

  • Be highly organized, yet adaptable to react quickly to urgent matters

  • Have a continuous improvement and curiosity mindset

  • Demonstrate an ability to understand objectives and autonomously get to great outcomes 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in legal, compliance, risk management or audit

  • At least 6 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree

  • 5+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, legal, or audit

  • 2+ years of experience in project management

  • Compliance related certifications (Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP))

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr. Risk Manager
