Innovative research, professional service, and stellar teaching and mentorship define the UNT Department of History, a community of 34 full-time faculty and staff, 450 undergraduate history majors, and nearly 100 MA and PhD students. The department has been long recognized in the fields of oral history and the histories of Texas and the American South. In recent decades, we have also emerged as a leader for interdisciplinary research in food studies, military history, the medical humanities, and in digital scholarship.
Position Overview
The duty of this Administrative Specialist position is assisting our students by managing and supervising all operations of the Department of History’s Help Center, with supplemental duties as assigned of supporting the Division of Humanities’ Laboratory for Engaged & Applied Public Humanities (LEAPH). The position maintains all History Help Center equipment and resources, supervises all Help Center personnel, provides a space for tutoring, make-up exams, and proctors exams for faculty courses. This position supports the department's operations by maintaining inventory and purchasing for service awards and tenure review, completing the annual space survey, and assisting with updates to our History course primary source texts. This position assists the Chair with data analysis projects as needed and administers surveys to meet department needs. Other duties for this position include but are not limited to managing operations for the History Library and other departmental spaces and managing and ordering textbooks for faculty and graduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree and three years of moderately responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
