Job Description
NBCUniversal Production Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become a Sr. Production Systems Reliability Engineer in our Production Engineering department at 30 Rock. This department supports all the Studios & Control Rooms in a 24/7 capacity at Rockefeller Center along with facilities in other locations such as NJ, LA, Miami, and Washington DC.
- Perform system level design/documentation and deployments for 30 Rock newest IP Control Room & Studio Production Technology.
- Create Schematics and Logic documentation for system development and support.
- Implement configuration and system changes for current technical facilities, including, but not limited to, control rooms, studio equipment, audio equipment, and computer equipment.
- Communicate with Entertainment & News Production communities to understand and discuss project & system requirements. In-turn create project plans for PMO teams.
- Leading, maintaining, and prioritizing varied engineering and commissioning projects including new IP Control Rooms and 4K Production expansions.
- Create handoff documentation for fellow team member and Production Support Staff using Confluence and other tools.
- Develop new reliability workflows using SaaS tools such as JIRA and Opsgenie.
- Work on creating system monitoring tools using solutions offered by vendors that can be used for 24/7 system monitoring and control.
- Plan and lead system upgrades during overnight maintenance windows.
- Act as support escalation contact for emergencies and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of recent experience in a television broadcast environment.
- Understanding of the 24/7 nature of the on-air News, Sports, and Entertainment environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to learn new production technologies.
- Strong understanding on building and maintaining JIRA workflows.
- Strong understanding of Evertz 2110 environments and workflows.
- Willingness to work shifts/overtime including weekends, overnights and on holidays with short notice.
- Must be able to work independently yet have strong collaboration skills and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to prioritize and be a pro-active thinker.
- Ability to stay focused and productive in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing assignments.
- This position requires some work performed under stressful situations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working familiarity with TV engineering and broadcast video/audio transmission systems.
- Proficient with broadcast production systems and software including SMPTE standards, Evertz Products, Calrec Audio Consoles, Intercom Systems, Video Switchers, and others.
- Solid Understanding of SMPTE standards as well as core technical/plant facilities, including 2110 environments.
- Solid understanding of computer networking.
- Proficient in software-driven broadcast video equipment.
