Description
The Department of Fire Services (DFS) is recruiting to fill the position of Multi-Agency Public Safety (Active Shooter Hostile Event Response / Fire Investigation) Instructional Assistant Program Coordinator.

The ideal candidate will be able to work two to three days per week in Multi-Agency Public Safety program area and be willing to travel to deliver programs across the Commonwealth. This is a part-time contract position with no benefits.
Description of Duties
- Responsible for providing supervision of multiple classes at all MFA campuses and throughout the Commonwealth
- Reviews and summarizes student evaluations
- Conducts program review for Multi-Agency Public Safety program area and becomes involved in re‐development of existing programs and development of new programs
- Prepares new equipment and/or replacement equipment lists annually and submits to Program Coordinator
- Works closely with Support branch of DFS to ensure proper equipment and media are delivered to training sites
- Develops new instructors through coaching, mentoring, teaching, and guiding
- Observes instructors and provides guidance in program delivery
- Actively participates in coordinator meetings
- Researches, evaluates, and prepares recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, and materials for the program
- Develops tests, questionnaires, and procedures to measure effectiveness of curriculum and to determine if program objectives are met
- Recommends purchase of instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and visual aids to meet the needs of the program
- Works with staff in assessment, curriculum development, management of student behavior, and use of materials and equipment
- Observes, evaluates, and recommends changes in work of instructional staff to strengthen teaching skills in classroom
- Plans, conducts, and evaluates training programs and other learning opportunities for instructors to study new classroom procedures, instructional materials, and teaching aids
- Reviews and grades written test scores and skill sheets and counsels students when necessary
- Prepares subjective evaluations on students for outstanding performance and non‐acceptable performance and counsels the student and notifies the Chief of the Department
- May be assigned additional projects by MFA management
- Facilitates NFA courses related to program division as needed to audit for internal instruction of state-sponsored deliveries
- Actively participates in simulation (SIM) software trainings
- Actively participates in curriculum development and virtual delivery platform trainings
- Responsible for creating simulations for use in training programs
- As needed, assists the Coordinator in reviewing training applications submitted for credential credit
