About the role

You must meet the Specialized Experience to qualify for the Associate Regional Director as described below. For GS-14: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants must meet 3 out of the 4 examples of specialized experience below. Examples of qualifying specialized experience are: 1) Experience planning, directing, or leading technical civil and/or criminal employee benefits investigations as well as compliance and participant assistance activities involving ERISA-covered plans, including analysis of fiduciary conduct, plan administration, plan financial activities, and investments, and developing investigative strategies where precedent may be limited. 2) Experience providing technical guidance and review of enforcement, outreach, and participant-focused work products for legal sufficiency and compliance with ERISA, applicable regulations/exemptions, agency policy, and relevant legal precedent, including identifying issues and recommending appropriate courses of action to management. 3) Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating employee benefits program initiatives (e.g., regional enforcement projects, training programs, outreach/education events, voluntary correction, or abandoned plan-related efforts), using performance measures/metrics to assess effectiveness and recommend improvements. 4) Experience coordinating and representing an organization with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., SOL, DOJ/U.S. Attorneys, IRS, SEC, state agencies, plan officials, and their representatives) to communicate policy/legal positions, resolve issues of mutual concern, and support case development, compliance, or litigation activities.
