About the role

Overview

The Vermont Department of Health (VDH) is recruiting for an Administrative Services Coordinator in the Laboratory Sciences and Infectious Disease Division. 

 

Our work falls into three main sections: Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Immunizations, and the Public Health Laboratory.  These high-performing teams rely on our administrative services to provide operational support to keep their work flowing smoothly. A successful applicant will be a high performing business administration professional with experience working on complex projects, a commitment to a customer-service approach, strong relationship-building abilities, and the drive to proactively find strategic solutions to complex challenges. 

 

The Administrative Services Coordinator is responsible for: 
•    Providing administrative support to the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Program, including triaging phone calls, scheduling and training Duty Officers who provide after-hours epidemiology support for urgent public health situations, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
•    Managing the Reportable Disease Database, which includes reviewing received case reports from laboratories and health care providers, data entry into the National Disease Surveillance System, and triaging case reports to program staff.
•    Supporting general division administration related to records management, supporting employee onboarding and offboarding, and providing general support to division leadership as assigned. 
•    Serve as backup for activities related to Accounts Receivable and Payable.

Location: This position will primarily be stationed in Waterbury. There is potential for this position to work a hybrid remote schedule, but some weekly in office days will be required. The person in this position will also work closely with staff at the Public Health Laboratory in Colchester and may need to be on site from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.

One year of full-time college level study in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND two (2) years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organiz
