Medical Lab Technician

Salary: $40-$60k/year
Position Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for performing routine laboratory tests and procedures that assist physicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The MLT ensures accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of test results while adhering to established protocols and quality control standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Collect, process, and prepare patient specimens for testing (e.g., blood, urine, tissue).
· Perform routine laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis.
· Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and performance.
· Document and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
· Follow established laboratory safety procedures and infection control guidelines.
· Conduct quality control checks and participate in proficiency testing.
· Maintain accurate records and comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, OSHA).
· Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding lab results and urgent findings.
· Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
Certification: Certification by an accredited agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT) preferred or required based on state regulations.
Experience: 1–2 years of relevant experience (new graduates may be considered).
Skills:
· Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
· Proficiency with laboratory information systems and instrumentation
· Good communication and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
