This discipline involves a robust process of designing, creating, and optimizing systems. Key activities include identifying and quantifying system requirements, generating alternative design concepts, conducting design trade studies, selecting and implementing the best engineering approaches, and verifying proper integration and execution. The process spans from concept through production to operation.
