The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $164,000 - $205,000
Job Summary:
The UIL Regulatory team at AVANGRID is motivated, dynamic, and growing. The team is entrusted with leading all regulatory proceedings and activities in support of Avangrid’s electric and distribution companies in Connecticut and Massachusetts. This position will be an active leader in the development and implementation of regulatory strategy and policy across a variety of subject areas, with a distinct focus on leading the Regulatory Service Team and a Regulatory Project Manager. This position will interact directly with regulators and may serve as a witness at public utility commission hearings. This position will be required to lead, train, and develop employees.
Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:
Oversee, manage, and direct Connecticut and Massachusetts Regulatory Services group, which is charged with tracking, organizing, and managing all of the company’s regulatory filings. Oversee, manage, and direct Regulatory Project Manager, charged with managing larger regulatory projects spanning multiple internal business areas.
Provide effective guidance on a daily basis; serve as point of contact for all team members, proactively ensuring team operations and effective collaboration, setting clear team and individual goals, delegating tasks, and setting timelines, monitoring team and individual performance; overseeing tariff management, including creation and approval as directed from Senior Management.
Coordinate efforts across various departmental teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration toward common project goals; mediate between teams to create an environment focused on shared success; Manage coordination, administration, and timely execution of cross-functional projects; Set, track, and meet deadlines, facilitate communication between project team leaders, and bring project teams together into a cohesive whole.
Oversee and coordinate all docket activity including the preparation of Company interrogatory requests and responses, pleadings, briefs, reply-briefs, compliance filings and other written communications with regulatory commissions.
Responsible for planning and tracking completion of workstreams for key filings including rate cases in accordance with all Commission Orders. Oversee the development of weekly and monthly regulatory management reports and a calendar of regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities include the review of filings and IR responses to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and consistency across company documents.
Partner in the coordination and review processes with the Directors of Regulatory of Electric and Gas for UIL to ensure alignment with general regulatory activity of each business line as well as regulatory strategy development and implementation.
Running Regulatory Organization Wide Meetings/Project Management relating to Docket Management.
Supervise SAP Invoice Processing & Procurement/Vendor Payment Processing.
Works closely with Vice President-Regulatory Affairs, Vice President General Counsel, expert consultants, external legal firms, and other Company executives on developing, presenting, and executing Company positions.
Oversee and research various outside company and commission regulatory proceedings, as necessary. Prepare and present for internal and external audiences PowerPoint presentations. Participate in national and international meetings, as necessary.
Lead, train, and develop employees.
Will be expected to support other regulatory functions as needed.
Regulatory Proceedings:
Oversee, coordinate, and directly participate in selected regulatory proceedings and cases as necessary. Assist the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs in oversight and review of regulatory cases including financial review, interrogatory responses and review, coordination of regulatory filings, and case strategy.
Assist in financial reviews including budgeting, accounting guidance and financial analysis regarding regulatory matters, as necessary.
Prepare written documents including memorandums, position papers, testimony and such other documentation needed to support Company positions.
Skills/Abilities:
Must have strong technical writing capabilities and the ability to communicate and persuade both orally and in writing.
