What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $109,134 - $150,000/annually, based on experience and education. Location & Schedule
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position, you can expect to work on-site at least three days per week at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Building, 201 W. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80202. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

The DOTI Transportation Business Unit Transportation & Mobility Engineering (TME) team is seeking a dynamic Senior Engineer with interest and excitement in transportation/traffic engineering to lead and support the wide range of mobility and safety work. In this role, you will make a direct impact in bettering our city by designing and reviewing safe and equitable transportation mobility improvements that benefit all residents and the traveling public.
The TME team focuses on providing traffic engineering expertise for DOTI projects and programs and private development projects. We work with other City departments, design consultants, community stakeholders, and external agencies to complete our work.
Examples of work completed through this Division include:
Conducting plan reviews for all traffic signal, signing, and pavement marking improvements
Reviewing construction phasing and traffic control plans for private and City projects as part of permitting
Supporting the Vision Zero program through road safety audit review, crash analysis, and speed limit evaluation
Completing corridor signal progression and intersection signal timing projects
Providing transportation and traffic engineering subject matter expertise and contributing to policy development
Responding to citizen requests related to the transportation system
Developing designs for signing and pavement marking changes
Determining warrants for all-way stops, traffic signals, Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHBs), and Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs)
Reviewing and scoping mobility studies and traffic modeling for private developments
Providing subject matter expert review and support on large, complex transportation projects (e.g., 16th Street, Colfax BRT)
The Senior Engineer on the TME team provides project leadership, cross‑organizational coordination, and technical guidance. This position serves as a mentor and may also supervise a direct report, reporting to the team’s Supervisor. The Senior Engineer leads and supports engineering design for innovative Vision Zero, bicycle, transit, pedestrian
