Manager, Clinical Inventory

Overview

The Manager of Clinical Inventory manages the work of Inventory Coordinators and Inventory Control Clerks in all clinical inventories to insure that materials and supplies are managed effectively. Responsible for all clinical asset inventories department inventory processes totaling on average $10 million dollars.  This individual will be accountable for collaborating with physicians on requested new products for purchase.  Will be responsible for developing plans to control inventory costs within all clinical inventory areas.  Will spearhead cost reduction initiatives within the division by working with surgeon leadership and department administration.  Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Quality, Integrity and Stewardship that support our mission, vision and values.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or related field required. Master’s degree in business, healthcare, or related field preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

• Certified Materials Resources Professional (CMRP) preferred. 

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in supply chain, inventory or related experience required. Experience as a Registered Nurse or OR/Surgical Tech experience strongly preferred.
• Minimum 1-2 years of supervisory or demonstrated leadership experience required.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Possess the ability to manage the needs of the clinical areas while achieving the financial targets for the clinical departments.
• Demonstrated ability to design workflows to maximize human capital resources.
• High-level math skills, writing, and computer skills are required. Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite and materials management software required. Lawson Software, Lawson Mobile Supply Chain Management, Microsoft Add-Ins, Crystal Reports and Cerner Software experience is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership in organizational change and quality management.
• Proven negotiation, team facilitation, change management, and conflict resolution skills are required.

Schedules and supervises staff that support supply chain activities in all clinical inventory areas. Responsible for daily shift coverage as well as backup for staff.

 

Conducts performance appraisals for employees and administers corrective coaching and counseling as needed.

   

Manages clinical inventory totaling on average $10 million.

 

Collaborates with Value Analysis and clinical areas to identify and implement cost reduction initiatives through standardization and clinical inventory control.

 

Prepares, reviews and researches monthly discrepancies between Materials Management inventory systems and financial performance. Coordinates meetings, presents findings and provides recommendations for improvements.

 

Front line contact between the clinical area leadership and supply chain to explain inventory levels, cost reduction activities, utilization and standardization. Provides explanations for monthly financial statement components related to supplies expense.

 

Utilizes two electronic materials management inventory systems (Cerner and Lawson) to review, analyze, and monitor inventory levels.
