Cruise is looking for a HIL engineering intern to provide scalable, accessible and stable Hardware-In-the-Loop test systems and frameworks that enable components to system level development, integration and validation of performance at Cruise. In this position, you will work with cross functional teams to design and develop tools to contribute to the next generation of AV HIL systems. You will work at the intersection of hardware, software, and AV technology, as well as the intersection of engineering and operations, to scale the test framework for autonomous vehicles. What you’ll be doing:
You will work on a multidisciplinary team and work directly with various stakeholders in order to gather requirements of each component in AV systems to enable off-vehicle development and validation on HIL systems
You will work with HIL Tooling Engineer to develop and maintain tools used to to improve test platform’s utilization and efficiency
You will contribute to the design and build of HIL test framework with real AV hardware and off the shelf testing equipments
You will work with HIL engineers to perform hands-on troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and integration issues on existing HIL systems
What you must have:
Currently working towards a B.S., M.S., or advanced degree in a relevant engineering program
Experience using test equipment, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, function generator, etc to perform electrical/electro-mechanical system diagnostic
Experience with electrical, mechatronic system
Some experience or project course work with PCB design and prototyping.
Some experience or project course work with programming in C, Python or similar language
Detail oriented, including proven documentation skills
Strong work ethic, quality workmanship, and team oriented
Positive communication skills
Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California
Bonus points:
Hands-on experience with embedded system development and/or custom PCB hardware
Experience using microcontroller communication with SPI, I2C, CAN or LIN bus
Experience using Data Acquisition System, eg, NI, dSpace
Experience with using microcontroller programming of STM32, ESP32, RP2040 or similar
The salary range for this position is $28.00 - 68.00/hour. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
