About the role

The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, Florida is seeking a full-time Physiatrist, with strong interest and 5 – 10+ years of experience in comprehensive spine care, to serve as Co-Medical Director of the Mayo Clinic Florida Multidisciplinary Spine Center in close collaboration with the Departments of Neurosurgery, Pain Medicine, and PM&R. 

The candidate to fill this position will work on the Mayo Clinic Florida campus primarily in the outpatient clinics to provide state-of-the-art care for patients with spine problems, and help administrate the clinical, educational, and research endeavors of the spine center practice.  Candidates must be Board-Certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and, besides having a strong interest in the evaluation and treatment of spine-related problems, will also have an interest in teaching and research opportunities, as well as contributing to the success of the newly accredited PM&R residency program. Though not a requirement, candidates who are ABPMR subspecialty board certified in Pain Medicine will have the opportunity to be co-appointed and practice in the Department of Pain Medicine, including the performance of interventional spine procedures. 

The Department of PM&R currently consists of six board certified Physiatrists with a long-standing history of providing outpatient consultations for spine, musculoskeletal/sports, neurological, transplant, and cancer-related problems. We have recently developed an inpatient consultation service to assist with providing rehabilitation care to  the hospitalized patients at Mayo Clinic Florida. The Department is also home to more than 100 experienced physical and occupational therapists who provide excellent inpatient and outpatient services to patients in all these medical areas.
