About the role

Position Summary:
The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for administering, directing, and leading all sales and marketing efforts for La Posada de Santa Fe. This role drives top‑line revenue across all market segments, manages the sales team, oversees marketing communications and strategy, and ensures alignment with the property's financial goals and the organization’s strategic direction. The Director partners closely with the General Manager and VP of Sales & Marketing leadership to maximize market share, optimize sales performance, and uphold the standards of this historic full‑service resort.   Core Responsibilities:
  • Develop sales strategies for property, including targeted market segments, rate management, solicitation procedures and advertising.
  • Develop a realistic annual marketing plan, forecast with monthly reviews to update and modify as required by market conditions.
  • Emphasize control procedures and yield management to assure a proper balance of rate availability to market demand.
  • Establish and executive an effective outside sales program.
  • Direct internal servicing of groups.
  • Act in concert with hotel management team and property General Manager.
  • Train all sales and marketing staff, holding them accountable to actionable results.
  • Work in a cooperative and friendly manner with fellow associates.
  • Practice a culture of guest service in all you do; promote courtesy, good will and a positive attitude in each and every encounter.
  • Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by General Manager.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hotel sales leadership experience with a track record of revenue success.
  • Strong business communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Expertise in hotel sales segments, forecasting, rate strategy, and revenue optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze STR data, P&L, group pace, and market trends.
  • Experience managing a multi‑department sales structure (Rooms & Catering).
  • Strong work ethic, self‑initiative, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain strong staff and guest relationships and uphold confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Director of Sales & Marketing experience at a full‑service hotel or resort.
  • Experience working with ownership groups or asset managers.
  • Familiarity with the Santa Fe or Southwestern hospitality market.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or related field.

Additional Preferred Experience 

  • Experience selling multi‑venue meeting portfolios, including ballrooms, boardrooms, historic indoor venues, and high‑demand outdoor event spaces.
  • Proven success targeting corporate retreat, executive board meeting, and incentive‑travel segments, especially in resort or experiential destinations.
  • Ability to market and package experiential add‑ons such as on‑property dining (Julia), craft cocktail experiences (Staab House), spa services, and cultural Santa Fe activities.
  • Skill in developing sales strategies for groups up to 300 guests, leveraging flexible spaces like the Montana Ballroom, Canyon Room, and outdoor Lawn + Patio areas.
  • Strong understanding of selling to weddings, social events, and luxury leisure groups, especially those seeking distinctive, culturally rich venue options.
  • Experience collaborating with event planners to optimize multi‑day programs using breakout rooms and multi‑space configurations.
  • Ability to position the resort’s 7,687 sq. ft. of event space and unique Pueblo Revival aesthetic as competitive differentiators in the Southwest market.
