DC Material Handler

Material Handler is responsible for manually moving and handling freight/merchandise within the Distribution Center. No direct Reports

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lift and stack cartons onto pallets and conveyors
• Build pallets by matching carton label IDs to pallet label/IDs and/or make cartons    
• Effectively operate hand held scanner
• Affix labels to cartons or pallets
• Separate freight by vendor name, purchase order, SKU or store number
• Push or pull freight using manually operated equipment
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment
• Conduct operations in compliance with OSHA and MSDS standards
• Communicates problems/concerns to the Lead and/or Area Manager
• Promote safety at all times and report safety violations to Area Manager
• Utilize manually operated equipment, i.e., pallet jack or hand truck to load cartons or other items
• Will be moved to other departments, as needed based on needs of the department, facility and company along with other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Experience in Distribution Center helpful but not required
• Lift cartons weighing up to 50 pounds
• Push or pull pallets stacked with cartons
• Frequent bending, lifting, walking, pushing, pulling of freight, standing for long periods of time
• Ability to read and recognize applicable numbers and directives
• Comprehends written and verbal instructions

 

Experience:  High school diploma or equivalent
