Your Role

You will lead business development efforts for our Contract Testing Services (CTS) business focused on supporting Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical companies across Boston, MA.  Our mission is to enable biotech and biopharma companies to advance their therapeutics efficiently and compliantly from early-stage development through commercialization.

In this role, you will be responsible for building and executing a territory strategy that drives new client acquisition, expands existing accounts, and increases market share in analytical, biosafety, release, and characterization testing services.

The ideal candidate combines scientific fluency, strong consultative selling experience, and a network within the life science industry. You will work closely with technical subject matter experts and project managers to position high-value testing solutions and guide clients through the full sales cycle to close service agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a territory business plan to identify, qualify, and engage new clients in the contract testing market.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to clients, understanding their development timelines, regulatory needs, and outsourcing strategies related to analytical and biosafety testing.
  • Actively prospect biotech, pharma, and academic spinouts.
  • Lead technical sales discussions alongside scientific experts to align our testing services with client program requirements.
  • Manage and negotiate Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Quality Agreements, and individual study scopes.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to generate leads and build brand presence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, scientific, and operations teams to ensure alignment on messaging, service delivery, and client satisfaction.
  • Report market insights, emerging trends, and competitive dynamics back to commercial leadership to shape go-to-market strategy.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Virology, or a related life science discipline.
  • Proficient years (2-3) of experience in B2B sales, technical sales, or client-facing roles within life sciences — ideally in contract lab services, CROs, or CDMOs.
  • Expert at prospecting and hunting for new business.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and close complex service contracts, including MSAs and scope of work agreements.
  • Strong familiarity with GMP/GLP testing and regulatory frameworks (e.g., FDA, EMA) in support of IND/BLA submissions.
  • Self-starter with a proven track record of territory development, customer engagement, and revenue growth.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and consultative selling skills.
  • Based in Boston and willing to travel up to 40% for client meetings and conferences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with or selling to emerging biotech and venture-backed startups.
  • Familiarity with viral vector manufacturing, biosafety testing (e.g., sterility, mycoplasma, endotoxin, adventitious agents), and cell characterization assays.
  • Comfortable operating in a remote, matrixed commercial team environment.
  • Proficient in CRM tools, Salesforce reporting, and sales pipeline management.
