Location: Inova Fair Fax Medical Center 

Under the direct supervision of a registered Imaging Technologist, the Radiology Extern 2 will perform a variety of tasks and procedures in accordance with completed competencies and unit needs. Identifies own learning needs and seeks opportunities to enhance practice knowledge base. related to imaging and the imaging process in which they learned in class and practiced in the school setting. Assists the healthcare team in implementing the plan of care and achieving desired patient and unit outcomes through effective communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates acquisition and exercise of new skills. Displays progress in level of functionality. Communicates effectively with mentor(s) and over time, demonstrates greater independence and decision-making ability.
• Able to perform at expected level of supervisor(s) expectations.
• Adheres to department policies and protocols by ensuring all examinations are optimized for interpretation.
• Demonstrates the ability and skills to assist with adhering to radiography principles.

• Successful completion of Extern 1 competencies

Education: 

• High School diploma or equivalent; Full-time student in good standing in an accredited school of Radiologic Technology; Enrolled in an accredited radiology school or program
