Metal 3D Printing Engineer - Wearables

We are seeking an experienced Metal 3D Printing Engineer to join our team at Meta Reality Labs. As a subject matter expert, you will drive metal 3D printing efforts for our Wearables organization and play a key role in shaping the future of consumer electronics products.

In this role, you will apply metal 3D printing technology to design and develop structural and cosmetic components for Meta's consumer electronics portfolio. You will closely collaborate with the engineering team to optimize designs, leveraging cutting-edge additive manufacturing technology to improve Meta products. Additionally, this role will develop new internal and external partnerships, evaluate suppliers' strengths and weaknesses, and create effective collaboration models based on these assessments.

• Leverage latest industry technologies to deliver scalable metal 3D printing solutions for Meta products
• Be a subject matter expert and technical leader working with and guiding a group of internal and external partners to define technology roadmap and path to scale
• Evaluate industry landscape and communicate technology and platform strategy effectively to both internal and external stakeholders
• Guide management on the long term technology direction and investments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on creating strategic plans and roadmaps for scaling both the printing systems and the final products built out of the printing systems.
• Travel up to 25% time domestically and internationally

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or equivalent industry experience
• 10+ years of experience in engineering
• Industry expert with in-depth knowledge of metal additive manufacturing landscape, including potentials, limitations, and key process and equipment suppliers
• Experience in developing and executing metal 3D Printing roadmaps
• Experience with design for additive manufacturing (DFAM) principles
• Collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams
• Experience mapping trade-off spaces, drive concepts into prototypes, and transition them to mass production for high-volume consumer products

Preferred Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Engineering or equivalent industry experience
• 15+ years of engineering experience
• Experience with 3D metal printing with various metal alloys (Aluminum, Titanium, Magnesium etc)
• Experience with topology study and optimization through FEA
• Experience with development of new materials for 3D printing
