We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Software Asset Manager Specialist to join our IT Planning and Operational Excellence team.  In this role you will lead efforts in software asset management, vendor relationship management, and support business operation requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the organization's software assets program, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, optimizing software usage, and maintaining accurate records of software installations and licenses. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software licensing models, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement software asset management processes and best practices.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and areas for improvement, proposing and implementing solutions.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of software licenses, installations, usage, and contract details across the organization.
  • Monitor software license compliance and ensure adherence to licensing agreements and regulations.
  • Optimize software usage to minimize costs while meeting business needs.
  • Conduct regular software audits to identify discrepancies, ensure compliance, and drive optimization efficiencies.
  • Establish regular cadence with stakeholders, providing reports insights on software usage, compliance, and cost optimization.
  • Work closely with IT teams to ensure software installations and updates are properly documented.
  • Partner with IT and procurement teams to define licensing requirements, licensing models, manage software procurements, and renewals.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensure effective communication, collaboration, and monitor performance (KPI/SLA)
  • Create and maintain dashboards and service catalog content.
  • Develop and implement efficient processes and workflows to optimize operations.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and areas for improvement, proposing and implementing solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering a Software Asset program using Service Now or similar SAM tool. 
  • 5+ years of proven experience in software asset management, vendor management, and business operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust IT programs.
  • Strong understanding of software licensing models, vendor performance metrics (KPI/SLA) and business framework
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong executive presence, facilitation skills, result driven, attention to detail, 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills that foster collaboration and strong relationship building with IT teams, customers, and vendors.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting and presentation tools, software asset management tools and technology.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently with minimal guidance in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Prior experience in negotiating software licensing agreements is a plus
  • Experience with MS Suite, Excel, Powerpoint 
  • Service Now SAM and service catalog knowledge desired
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Jira experience a plus
  • Confluence experience desired
  • Smartsheet experience a plus
  • Tableau experience a plus
