About the Role
This is a hands-on, people-focused role where you’ll support KidsZone and KidsClub programs while helping create a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for children from infancy through school age. As a Coordinator, you’ll assist with program operations, staff support, and participant experience while spending the majority of your time working directly with children and families. You’ll balance direct service, team support, and day-to-day operations, playing a key role in keeping programs running smoothly and successfully at the YMCA.
What You’ll Do
Support daily operations of KidsZone and KidsClub programs
Provide direct care and supervision for infants through school-age children (majority of time)
Lead activities, engage children, and create a safe, positive environment
Assist with program scheduling and staff coordination
Help develop and expand programs based on community needs
Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training of staff
Provide feedback, coaching, and assist with team evaluations
Process scheduling and payroll functions
Ensure safety, cleanliness, and adherence to child care standards
Respond to parent questions, concerns, and feedback in a timely manner
Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff using a “Listen First” approach
Support fundraising efforts and community engagement initiatives
Follow all organizational policies and procedures
What We’re Looking For
1–2 years of experience working with children (infant through school age preferred)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Organized and detail-oriented
Comfortable working with diverse groups of children and families
Strong problem-solving skills
Basic computer skills, including Office 365
Patient, energetic, and attentive

You’ll spend most of your time actively supervising, engaging, and caring for children
You’ll move between age groups, activities, and program needs throughout the day
You’ll balance hands-on child care with administrative responsibilities
You’ll support staff while stepping in wherever needed
Your day will be active, fast-paced, and centered around children and families
What You Bring
Experience in child care, youth programs, or a related field preferred
Ability to engage and supervise children across multiple age groups
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with families
Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to be flexible and support a variety of program needs
