Maintenance Team Leader

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain a thorough understanding of plant safety policies and procedures and perform all work according to policies and procedures.
• Understand plant environmental policies/procedures and how they relate to performance of daily duties.
• Responsible for maintaining high standards of quality and workmanship in performance of all duties and duties of subordinates.
• MUST have demonstrated ability to lead a shift team in working together for common goals.
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability and initiative to identify and implement improvements in materials, methods, processes, etc. which contribute to profitability.
• Plan and schedule jobs, including resources, materials, methods, tools and equipment in support of jobs assigned.
• Train and mentor employees involved in progressive maintenance training.
• Ensure subordinates are aware of GIW policies and procedures.
• Ensures good communication between shifts, Operations and Maintenance Supervisor.
• Train operators in proper equipment operation and maintenance.
• Assign work to and supervise activities of other maintenance Journeymen in order to assure efficient utilization of labor resources for assigned shift.
• Responsible for GIW Maintenance inventory and assets on assigned shift.
• Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Experience:

• 5 years combined mechanical and electrical industrial maintenance experience.

Education: 2-year technical degree in industrial maintenance or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently:

• Standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, stooping
• Lifting, pushing, and pulling <75 lbs.

• Occasionally:

• Overhead work
• Climbing ladders or stairs
• Driving forklifts
• Operating cranes
