Your Impact: 

Handshake is hiring a senior software engineer to drive full-stack ML initiatives across Job Recommendations, Job Search, and Home Feed. You will be part of the Core Relevance team, led by engineers and researchers with decades of applied-ML experience across industry-leading companies. We are a passionate group dedicated to improving career outcomes for students of all backgrounds by leveraging our rich data warehouse containing 100s of millions of student-job interactions.  

You will build ML serving architectures and data flows that integrate state-of-the-art ML models/features into production services for transformative impact across core user experiences. You will design and deploy ML applications for multiple products that make innovative new student experiences come to life. 

Your Role: 

• Integrate and deploy state-of-the-art ML models for online retrieval, re-ranking, and nearest-neighbor search 
• Architect and build online scoring services, feature stores, search indexes, and model registries
• Stand-up performant ML inference microservices and design APIs for multiple client use cases 
• Scale offline data pipelines for millions of users and publish outputs to online stores
• Prototype and productionize model architecture improvements and new features 
• Collaborate x-functionally with PMs, designers, and engineers to build new technologies and product features 
• Optimize core business metrics with company-wide impact through experimentation and iteration

Your Experience:

• Ideally 3+ years industry experience in applied machine learning
• Designed / implemented components of online machine learning systems at scale
• Follow software engineering best practices while shipping performant, production-quality code
• Utilize end-to-end ML industry best practices, from data->modeling->evaluation->deployment
• Prior experience building Recommendation, Search or Ads ML systems is preferred
• Comfortable in a lean, agile environment with a focus on tracking, impact, testing, and iteration
• Passionate about effective communication and team collaboration

Compensation Range: 

$163,688 - $220,000 + equity

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
