Job Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper position. The Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper is a part-time, casual position with no benefits, starting at $25.00/hour. The Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper oversees bookkeeping and provides administrative support for funding management of the Association of Amherst Students. This role includes facilitating and recording all purchases made by the AAS and Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). The Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper also takes proactive steps to support a diverse workforce and actively contributes to the College's initiatives aimed at fostering a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
The person in this position will work 19 hours a week with time off during the College break periods.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Finance Management
Pay invoices, meet with students to make purchases, facilitate the digital card program, log purchases, track and process reimbursements, maintain digital and hard copy financial reports, create budgetary reports, aid in managing budget
Administrative Support
Liaise with outside vendors and College departments to assist with AAS money management and relationships
Qualifications:
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 to 3 years of related experience
Equivalent work experience in lieu of minimum education and related experience
2-4 years of bookkeeping and administrative experience
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Suite
Demonstrated high level of attention to detail and accuracy
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive community
Preferred
Experience working in higher education
