Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption. Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work.

Our team is committed to excellence in planning, designing, and constructing facilities that support our mission. To accomplish this, D&C must successfully implement capital projects with close collaboration between physicians, scientists, and staff by establishing a standard of quality in construction management by assembling teams of professionals.
The Director of Design & Construction directly manages all phases of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s capital construction program and generally throughout all MSK expansion projects under Facilities Management. Reports directly to the Vice President of Facilities Design & Construction.
You will:
- Guide the functions and activities of MSK’s professional architectural, engineering, design, and construction management staff, determine assignments for projects, and monitor progress.
- Be a part of the development and evaluation of program requirements, architectural structural, and mechanical feasibility for major construction and renovation projects.
- Make recommendations regarding the feasibility of plans based on user requirements, institutional and departmental goals, as well as resources.
- Manage construction and design staff and participate in the development of specifications and standards to be utilized for renovations and new construction.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies such as the Department of Buildings of the City of New York, NYSDOH, JCAHO, NFPA, and OSHA as well as compliance with MSK corporate standards for purchasing policies and procedures and construction standards.
- Lead and review project budgets including initial cost analysis. Implement cost control measures to ensure delivery of projects within budget. Provide direction for the immediate resolution of budget deviations
You have:
- 7-10 years of experience in Hospital/Medical Center Construction Management; Architectural, Engineering, and/or Business experience preferred
- A solid understanding of architecture, engineering, and construction required to create read, understand, and analyze blueprints, floor plans, and other technical renderings
- Knowledge of building codes and hospital construction is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and great attention to detail.
- Successfully demonstrated the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Outstanding relationship building skills.
- Strong analytical and financial business acumen, with the ability to translate complex data and information into actionable insights and plans
- Team building/Mentorship skills
