Manager, Software Engineering

Assurant is seeking an experienced and flexible Software Engineering Manager to join our team! The Manager will lead software engineering teams supporting the Renters Solutions business and work closely with the Product Managers, Product Owners, Operations leaders, as well as Global Technology enterprise support areas.  

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

• Provides technical oversight and people management for Agile teams that include developers, QAs, and scrum masters directly reporting into the manager 

• Upholds and oversees development standards 

• Provides guidance to the right technology choices; quality and manages technical debt 

• Oversees team staffing strategy and hiring; facilitates career development of teams 

• Works closely with the Scrum Masters to measure team effectiveness  

• Sets SMART goals for the individuals reporting into them; conducts performance reviews, and provides regular formal and informal feedback

• Oversees technology operations to ensure we’re carefully managing our budgets, our vendors (service providing) and clients (revenue generating) service levels as established within key contracts and relationships 

• Identifies and acts on opportunities for continuous improvement.  Encourages prudent risk taking, exploration of alternative approaches and organizational learning 

• Demonstrates personal commitment to change through actions and words 

• Remains abreast of developments in the field(s) by pursuing a program of self-development, participating in professional organizations, interacting with peers, etc. 

What are the requirements needed for this position? 

• A strong technology background with 7 plus years of hands-on experience in architecting, designing and leading delivery of highly scalable multi-facet solutions (in-house built applications, integration to 3rd Party technologies, digital web services, customer engagement technologies, etc.). 

• 2 plus years of demonstrated leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility 

• Strong Agile framework experience 

• Passionate about building technology solutions that drive compelling user experiences. 

• Disciplined but agile, process oriented but flexible in managing teams. 

• Experience with leveraging On Premise and Cloud computing platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.) 

• Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize actions 

• Experience developing with Java, C#, .NET, etc.

Pay Range:

$99,200.00 - $165,600.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
