Duties and Responsibilities
This position reports to the HSMV Section Supervisor of Imaging & Correspondence and is responsible for providing operational support to the Medical Review Section. This position is authorized to review, and screen initial reports and complaints received by the department regarding licensed drivers or applicants who may be unsafe to drive due to a medical condition and make an independent determination on the course of action ensuring all applicable rules, regulations, and policies have been applied. Also, this position is authorized to mail follow-up medical reports to customers as required by the Medical Advisory Board. As well as, is responsible for researching and investigating complex driver issues by consulting with other persons, agencies facilities, and organizations, as well as internal agency employees to resolve difficult cases and issues. Also, this position is responsible for maintaining and compiling statistical data and reports for the Medical Section. Furthermore, this position is responsible for administrative functions for the Medical Review Section including inventory control, and records retention.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skill in using a personal computer to include Microsoft Office products.
- Skill in using Medical Expert, DL Maintenance and Motorist Maintenance.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
- Ability to find information and identify essential information.
- Ability to listen and ask questions when appropriate.
- Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Knowledge of Driver License and Motor Vehicles laws, policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
