Supervisor, Technical Training

As a Supervisor, Technical Training, you will have the unique opportunity to lead a team responsible for planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and documenting all training activities for Portland General Electric. You will collaborate on developing and optimizing training curriculum and initiatives, ensuring compliance with industry standards while fostering employee growth and development. A successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of policies, procedures, and best practices in the electric utility industry, coupled with exceptional analytical thinking and project management skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Training Management - Supervises team responsible for planning, prioritizing, scheduling and documenting all training activities and acquiring related materials; oversees needs assessment, planning and strategy of training function and provides daily supervision of team, ensuring that all relevant standards/procedures are followed. Ensures that operational problems are identified and resolved. Establishes direction and metrics for the team. Monitors performance motivates employees and provides coaching and feedback. Oversees process improvement.

Training Productivity - Collaborates on development and prioritization of training curriculum and initiatives. Optimizes training curriculum and deployment by ensuring all compliance training is planned, prioritized, scheduled and documented using the computerized learning management system; monitors scheduled training activities to ensure they are adequately planned and incorporated in the work schedule for employees; ensures schedule compliance.

Financial Management - Monitors and manages expenditures, ensuring that all financial targets are met, and examines any areas where budgets/expenditures vary from plan.

Resourcing - Implements resourcing decisions and planning for team, partners with HR in the definition of jobs, recruitment, evaluation and selection processes.

Professional Development - Maintains knowledge of skill-development tools/resources; advises on required outcomes for learning or development from knowledge of available tools and organizational development needs; assists employees in creating development plans and monitors employees' progress.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS

Education

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in business or other related field or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Prefer five or more years in electric utility operations and/or equivalent industrial operations with emphasis on training, planning and scheduling activities.

Certifications

  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CEBS, CBP, CCP, AIRS, ATD) a plus.
