Job Description

Responsible for managing and overseeing mechanical construction of the leach plant circuit expansion, paste plant and surface facilities for the underground projects. The role will involve the management of construction contractors, overseeing the quality control of contractor work, and work with the owner's team to ensure implementation of best practices for maintenance and operation of new equipment and facilities.
Health, Safety:
- Complying with OceanaGold Health and Safety Policy and Environment Policy.
- Actively promoting safety awareness and environmental responsibility amongst company and contract personnel.
- Reporting all personal injuries and incidents and assisting with investigations.
- Actively supporting and participate in safety and environmental initiatives.
- Accepting accountability to ensure personal safety and the safety of others whilst protecting the environment.
- Monitor the reporting of workplace incidents and hazards to ensure effective risk mitigation is maintained.
- Undertake workplace inspections and audits to ensure site standards are being adhered to.
- Coordinate incident investigations that occur within area of control.
Operational
- Participates in planning meetings to review drawings, determine priorities, and assist in scheduling the work.
- Establishes and monitors mechanical construction methods and practices for most effective cost control for work schedule, labor, materials, and equipment needs.
- Works with project manager for the control, care/protection, and use of tools, equipment, and company assets on site.
- Confers with supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to maximize efficiency and prevent delays.
- Assists project manager and engineer with change orders and extra work requests.
- Works with project engineer to schedule major process equipment deliveries
- Coordinates mechanical work with civil and electrical work
- Coordinates with process equipment vendors at start-up.
- Inspects work in progress to ensure the likelihood that workmanship conforms to specifications and meets construction schedules.
- Meets regularly with engineer and inspectors regarding required work, quality of work, and other job-related issues.
- Confers with project manager, engineer, and inspectors to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
- Assists in preparation of progress reports, materials, and job-related costs.
- Assists project manager with project close out.
- Coordinate efficiency and relationships between all key personnel involved with the project.
- Maintain a strong line of communication & reporting on key performance indicators to the Construction Manager and Operations Teams.
- Assist with transitioning projects to the operational phase.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
People and Leadership:
- Establish and maintain a productive project culture through effective people management and team building.
- Monitor the contractor teams and align their activities as necessary to ensure requirements are achieved.
- Communicate regularly with all staff to ensure that goals and priorities are clearly understood and to promote a harmonious working environment.
Technical:
- Knowledge of surface mining plants and equipment in particular:
- Leach tank circuits – Gold Mine Process Plant
- Surface Paste Plant
- Surface workshop and warehouse
- Surface office facilities
- Surface and underground pumping infras
