About the role

Job Description

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team of communications professionals. 

  • Serve as strategic communications advisor and trusted counsel to senior Buick and GMC brand leaders. 

  • Drive blue-sky, innovative approaches to product launches, brand storytelling, and media engagement — well beyond the traditional auto PR playbook. 

  • Help reinvent how we launch EVs to the world, crafting narratives that resonate across culture, technology, business, lifestyle, and media platforms. 

  • Cultivate strong relationships with top-tier automotive, lifestyle, culture, and business media. 

  • Act as a brand spokesperson and key media contact; provide messaging, coaching, and leadership support for brand spokespeople and executives. 

  • Work inter-functionally and cross-functionally with Marketing, Product Development, Design, and other key partners to ensure alignment and impact. 

  • Collaborate closely with Technology Communications, Editorial, Corporate Communications, and other internal stakeholders to drive enterprise-wide storytelling and consistent messaging. 

  • Support GM’s corporate narrative and brand leadership positioning, ensuring Buick and GMC stories are contributing to the larger GM transformation. 

  • Lead crisis/issues communications as needed and help protect and enhance brand reputation. 

  • Identify new formats, channels, and partnerships to amplify storytelling and engage new audiences. 

 
 

Required Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in public relations and strategic communications. 

  • Proven ability to provide strategic counsel to senior leadership and drive integrated communications strategies. 

  • Track record of leading innovative, breakthrough campaigns that drive earned media and cultural relevance. 

  • Deep, trusted media relationships across automotive, lifestyle, culture, and business media. 

  • Fluency in digital and social media, content trends, and influencer engagement. 

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and push beyond conventional approaches to product and brand communications. 

  • Experience working cross-functionally and collaborating enterprise-wide to deliver cohesive results. 

  • Experience launching and promoting EVs or similarly disruptive, future-oriented products is highly desirable. 

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills. 

  • Standout writing, messaging, and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to operate effectively and influence at the highest levels of a global organization. 

  • Agency or in-house leadership experience required.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Automotive experience is a plus but not required, and innovative brand-builders from other industries are strongly encouraged to apply. 

  • Experience in lifestyle communications.
