IT Business Relationship Director - Department of Surgery
Mayo ClinicAbout the role
The Department of Information Technology (MCIT) is seeking a Business Relationship Director (BRD) for its customer organization team. MCIT continues to be an increasing strategic enabler for Mayo Clinic, and as MCIT continues its Information Technology Transformation Program, it has expanded its Business Relationship Management (BRM) Program to include a senior leader to help partner with Mayo Clinic’s Department of Surgery.
The Department of Surgery is a key consumer of IT services: in addition to their use of the electronic medical record as a foundation for patient care, they deploy several department-specific clinical applications, utilize a variety of medical devices supported by Health Technology Management interfaced to IT systems, and rely on Mayo IT infrastructure. The Department of Surgery is distributed across Mayo Clinic, working closely with individual clinal practice areas; each has current and expanding industry partners. For Mayo Clinic to be successful in meeting its mission and 2030 plan, IT will need to provide the right tools and technology to help Mayo Clinic’s Department of Surgery provide safe, efficient, high quality care, as well as pursue their many areas of innovation. This role will work with the spectrum of senior leadership and management, and engage with appropriate departmental committees and governance structures.
The BRD appointment is to Mayo Clinic IT’s customers with complex and diverse needs that typically cross multiple IT service and product areas, requiring coordination of customer needs across infrastructure, applications, and data management capabilities. In some instances, this may also involve engagement with external business partnerships and other 3rd party relationships. The BRD-Surgery will collaborate with other business relationship managers supporting other clinical areas, such as medical specialties, ancillaries, and other related hospital and clinic operations, and well as business relationship managers from across Mayo Clinic sites. They will also work closely with IT Infrastructure as well as Enterprise Architecture and Information Security.
To achieve this, they will collaborate with their customer’s strategic planning efforts, lead IT strategic planning for their customer, which not only meets their customer’s business needs, but is in alignment with the overall IT strategy, and share ownership with their customer in the creation and realization of business value derived from IT. The position bridges the gap between customers and technology service areas. The BRD provides direction and guidance to customers to enable the best information technology solutions that meet their business needs. The BRD also provides feedback and guidance to IT Services service areas about customer successes and challenges, to better help improve IT solution needs and priorities, and takes a lead in helping set their customer’s IT strategy.
