What You Will Do

Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engine control, and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, and product software design, verification & validation.  We integrate the control and diagnostic system design across other engine system modules and with the air vehicles and provide support throughout the complete engine product life cycle.

The Diagnostics, Prognostics & Health Management (DPHM) discipline within CDS is responsible for the development and deployment of cutting-edge data acquisition systems, diagnostics, prognostics, and analytics. This includes Usage Based Lifing (UBL) for P&W engines and components and deploying state of the art development tools & methodologies.

In this role, we are seeking an analytics and data engineer to be a member of DPHM’s Commercial Analytics and Data Engineering team.

The team develops the systems that ingest aircraft and flight data, the tools to access and analyze it, and the analytics which provide critical results and alerts to keep the fleet flying as smoothly as possible.

The team provides a solid framework for downstream engineers, data scientists, and analysts to work in so that they can focus on analyzing the data and solving physical problems, instead of becoming mired in data wrangling. Collaborating closely with downstream teams is essential to developing the best next generation tools, algorithms, and analytics for commercial applications.

The position is based at the P&W East Hartford facility and is an onsite role.

  • Analytics development using statistical analysis, physics-based models, and artificial intelligence efforts applied to operational fleet data.

  • Deploying algorithms to customer facing systems to drive engine maintenance and improve fleet health.

  • Integrating external or new datasets into existing data pipelines.

  • Developing analytics & performing fleetwide analysis to support onboard FADEC software improvements.

  • Continuously monitoring and testing the system to ensure optimized performance.
