Job Description:

Overview           

We are looking for someone to come on board at Sun Life to help drive our API digital experience solution. This role will focus on Implementation and Production Support for APIs in our Digital Services organization. 

Digital connections are in demand and changes are happening all the time.  Sun Life wants to deliver solutions quickly and accurately for our Group clients.

We’re looking for someone who embraces technology and has prior experience with APIs.  Do you have experience with implementation or ongoing support of APIs? 

We work in a fast-paced Agile digital growth environment and our team is ready to add a dedicated API process enablement guru.   In your job as a Business Analyst (API), you will build, and continuously improve, our API solution documentation and process framework.  Come join our collaborative and supportive team!

Responsibilities

The Business Analyst, API Production Enablement will act as the subject matter expert for API Implementation.  This person will work closely with collaborators across the organization to ensure.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with development teams and business owners to identify business needs and where IT deliverables and Business strategy execution meet.

Collaborate with team members across Digital Services, for each digital connection type, to ensure there is standardization across each area for processes and data capture.

UAT: 

Participate in user acceptance testing.

Business Analysis:

Identify gaps in processes and procedures and document escalation processes for the business and the production support team. 

Review of business processes across the inventories of the assets to find improvement opportunities which reduce the lag time between assets being deployed and them appearing in inventory and the IT Operational Data Store

Quality Assurance:

Collaborate with the QA team to define test plans, test cases, and test data for API testing. The BA ensures that the API functions correctly, handles errors appropriately, and performs optimally under different scenarios.

Change Management: 

Assist in change management processes related to the API, including impact analysis, change requests, and version control. The BA helps manage changes to the API design, functionality, and deployment process, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.

The BA will create training material for new and existing API’s related to the implementation of an API, production support, and document business impacts. BA will also be responsible to help train various stakeholders.

Post-Implementation Support:

Provide support during the post-implementation phase, addressing user queries, troubleshooting issues, and facilitating continuous improvement of the API based on user feedback.

  • Experience in working with Insurance company or related financial institution and understand its business processes.
  • Knowledge of API documentation methods
  • Knowledge of API protocols (e.g. REST)
  • We will provide the support, but we are looking for an independent self-starter with strong time management skills.  We need you to meet objectives and deadlines without heavy supervision.
  • It’s a plus if you’ve previously worked in the SAFe/Agile Methodology.
